Wendy S.L. Lee is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Meta-Optical Devices at the University of Melbourne node of the ARC COE for Transformative Meta-Optical Systems.

Her research focuses on the engineering meta-atoms to manipulate incoming electromagnetic waves to suit a predetermined purpose. An array of these meta-atoms form a metasurface, which is a two-dimensional planar variant that is suitable for integration with on-chip devices. Currently she is investigating incorporating metasurfaces with upconverting nanoparticles for enhanced emissions and tunable metasurfaces for imaging with vanadium dioxide.

Wendy received her Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from the University of Adelaide with Dean’s Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence where she remained as a Lecturer and Postdoctoral Research Assistant prior to the position at the University of Melbourne.

Wendy enjoys building various Lego sets and playing numerous online computer games during her spare time. She also likes organizing and conducting outreach activities to encourage more female participation in STEM related career paths.
