Otto Cranwell Schaeper is in the third year of his PhD at the University of Technology Sydney. For the majority of his doctoral research, he has been involved in the development of nanophotonic devices using the two-dimensional material hexagonal boron nitride, with a particular focus on one-dimensional photonic crystal cavities. To fabricate these devices, Otto utilizes a wide range of fabrication techniques, including EBL, wet and dry etching, and metallization. Once the devices are completed, he also carries out characterization using optical set-ups.
