Sarah completed her Bachelor of Science (Honours) at the Australian National University (ANU) in 2021, and she is currently continuing her studies at ANU as a PhD student. Her research currently focuses on developing novel metasurface optics for microsatellite-based imaging systems, using topology optimisation to achieve imaging behaviour well suited to complex applications such as polarisation imaging of the Earth’s surface. She is also involved with the combined Optica and SPIE Student Chapters; as co-president of the Chapters for 2023, she takes a prominent role in organising Chapter events, including co-chairing the organizing committee for the student-only Conference on Optics, Atoms, and Laser Application (KOALA) in 2023.
